Endowment Misselling - selling endowments Selling your endowment policyOne possibilty open to you is to sell your endowment policy to a specialist company. These companies often offer you slightly more than the current surrender value of your policy, but they will only buy 'with profit' and not 'unit linked' policies. These companies gamble that the terminal bonus on the policy will be high enough at maturity for them to make a profit. But many endowment companies are now reducing both the annual and terminal bonues of their 'with profit' endowment policies due to the collapse of world stock markets. This may well mean that purchasing these policies becomes less attractive and as such they may well now begin to pay less for them. Please note that these companies do not purchase 'unit linked' endowment policies, as their only value is the surrender value at that time. No bonuses are added at any time with these plans, so there is no potential for these specialist companies to make any money. But please further note that if you believe you were mis-sold your endowment policy, and you win compensation, this will almost always be greater than the amount you receive for selling your policy.
